The Civil Engineering Department at Monash University is seeking resilient solutions to societal grand challenges, by combining global leadership in education with innovative research to create change. The department is focussing on three main research themes, underpinned by the work of several important research centres and activities. The Monash Structural Engineering Laboratory already has advanced facilities in steel and concrete structures (e.g. the largest strong floor in Australia, gas furnace with
excellent control system and 500 tons loading capacity, hydraulic jacks for cyclic testing, impact drop rig, high speed cameras, 3-D image correlation photogrammetry, non-contact laser strain measurement device and
environmental chambers). The existing computing facilities within the department have the advanced computer hardware and software essential for conducting the numerical work. More information can be found here: https://www.monash.edu/engineering/departments/civil/disciplines/structural-engineering.
